Travel to Durango
Durango is a major tourist destination. The town, home to over 15,000 people, has more hotels, restaurants and support services than most towns of its size. The town is centered around the downtown historic district then runs north along Main Avenue and Highway 550 North which eventually leads to Silverton and the San Juan Mountains. It is most convenient to stay in the downtown area, however, this tends to be more expensive than staying on North Main Ave. Click here for our Durango Travel Information sheet with hotel recommendations, restaurants, shops, and more!
Getting to Durango: You can fly directly into Durango Regional Airport. American Airlines flies direct from Dallas and Continental from Houston. United Airlines flies out of Denver and AmericaWest flies out of Phoenix. Another option is to fly to Albuquerque, rent a car and make a 3 hour drive north to Durango. If you are driving, Durango is 8 hours from Phoenix, 6 hours from Denver, and 18 hours from Dallas.
Travel Agent Booking

We work with Dana Welch at The Travel Society. She is familiar with booking our clients to the exotic destinations in which we travel. They tend to find the best airfares available for hard to reach places. Give Dana a Call at 303-563-6225 or email dana@travelsociety.com.
Travel & Trip Cancellation Insurance

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance, trip cancellation insurance, and supplemental medical coverage prior to participating in an international expedition. We recommend Travelex Insurance Services. When purchasing a travel plan, please be sure to indicate our location # 06-5013. Feel free to call us if you have any questions regarding the type of plan that best suits your needs.
