Colorado Centennial 13'ers

The San Juan region is host to some of Colorado's most inspiring Centennial 13'ers. What is a Centennial 13'er? In addition to the 54 14'ers, there are 46 13'ers that round out the 100 highest peaks in the state of Colorado. Some of the best climbs in the state appear on the Centennial 13'er list - a fine accomplishment for any climber, mountaineer, or backpacker!

Our Centennial 13'er climbing trips and programs take place in four distinct areas within the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan Mountains:

  • Vestal Basin
  • Leviathan Basin/Jagged Mountain
  • Ruby Creek Drainage/Pigeon & Turret Peaks
  • Ice Lakes Basin

2012 Offerings

Vestal Peak via the Wham Ridge - 3 days
If you're looking for a shorter trip and would like to climb THE classic of the Grenadier Range then this is the trip for you. Truly a wonderful route and one of our most popular trips!

Vestal Peak & Arrow Peak - 4 days
This 4 day trip will attempt Centennial 13'er climbs in Vestal Basin, the home of the Grenadiers. Vestal Peak (13,864 ft.), and Arrow Peak (13,803 ft.) are some of the most awe-inspiring mountains in all of Colorado. We climb Vestal Peak via the Wham Ridge and Arrow Peak via the North Ridge.

Jagged Mountain - 3 days
Part 2 of our Centennial 13'ers program takes us to Leviathan Basin to attempt the climb of Jagged Mountain (13,824 ft.) via the North Face, one of Colorado's most remote and challenging 13'ers.

Pigeon & Turret Peaks - 3 days
Part 3 of our Centennial 13'ers program takes us to the Ruby Creek drainage, a remote and lightly traveled area of the Weminuche Wilderness to attempt climbs of both Pigeon Peak (13,972 ft.) and Turret Peak (13,835 ft.), two of Colorado's most sought after 13'ers.
