Durango is a major tourist destination. The town of thirteen thousand people, has more hotels, restaurants and support services than most towns of its size. The town is centered around the downtown historic district then runs north along the main "strip". It is most convenient to stay in the downtown area, however, this tends to be more expensive than staying on the strip. If you're not going to have local transportation it is best to stay in a downtown hotel. Call Southwest Adventures if you want recommendations on out of town accommodations.

Getting to Durango: You can fly directly into Durango. American Airlines flies direct from Dallas and Continental from Houston. United Express flies out of Denver and America West flies out of Phoenix. Another option is to fly to Albuquerque, rent a car and make a 3 hour drive north to Durango. We offer free airport transfers for clients doing our multi-day trips throughout the winter, spring and fall months. If you are driving, Durango is 8 hours from Phoenix, 6 1/2 hours from Denver, and 18 hours from Dallas.
